Align Elements techniques
Pixel-true alignment, zero nudgingDistribute objects evenly across the canvasSnap busy layouts into clean gridsTidy an entire deck in one click
Alignment is what separates a design from a collage. A row of icons that share a top edge, three text blocks centered on the same axis, a logo pinned to the left margin — these tiny regularities are what make layouts feel professional. The Align Elements tool snaps any set of layers to a shared edge or axis in one click.
You select with checkboxes, so multi-select is effortless: tick the layers you want, choose from six edge-and-center alignments or two even-spacing modes, and the tool computes the combined bounding box of your selection and repositions every layer within it. Horizontal alignments (left, center, right) and vertical alignments (top, middle, bottom) can be chained — align a row to its top edge, then center a headline across the same layers.
Alignment is pixel-exact, not eyeball-exact. Center alignment rounds to whole pixels, and the result card confirms how many elements moved. Pair it with the reorder-layer tool for stacked compositions and the group-elements tool to lock a perfect arrangement into a single movable unit.
How it works

Tips
Center-align a headline over a row of shapes for an instantly balanced hero section.
Align in two passes: first the horizontal axis, then the vertical one.
Group your layers after a perfect alignment to move the whole arrangement as one.
What it costs
Free on this site — and it can't be metered. Align Elements uses no AI and runs entirely in your browser: no usage counters, nothing sent to our servers to bill. When credit metering arrives in the app, local operations like this one will never consume AI credits — only server-side AI generations will.
Frequently asked questions
Aligned to what — the canvas or each other?
Alignment uses the combined bounding box of everything you selected — the smallest rectangle containing all of them. “Center” centers each element within that box; it does not move the group to the canvas center.
How many layers can I align at once?
Pick at least two. With a single element there is nothing to align against, and the tool will tell you to select more. Even spacing (distribute) needs at least three layers — with only two there is nothing between them to space evenly.
Does the alignment stay locked?
Alignments are direct position changes, not constraints — nothing remembers the alignment afterward. If you need a set of elements to stay together while you move them, use the group-elements tool after aligning.
Can I align the same layers more than once?
Yes. Align a row of shapes to their top edge, then center a headline across them — professional layouts are built one alignment at a time.
What does Distribute do?
Distribute spaces your selected layers evenly between the first and last. The outermost layers stay exactly where they are, and everything in between snaps to equal spacing — horizontally or vertically. It is how you build tidy rows of icons or stacked sections without eyeballing the gaps.
Drag the handle — it glides with physics when you let go. Align Elements, transformed in one pass.

Design
The Design picker chooses which canvas receives the work. Keep one design per purpose — mixing campaigns in one file breeds confusion. Name designs by outcome (“Launch-Post-v3”), not by date; future-you searches by intent.
Pro tip: One design, one job. Split multi-purpose files early.

2
Alignment
Alignment is invisible when it works and jarring when it does not. Pick one alignment per text block and hold it. Centered paragraphs longer than three lines tire the eye — switch long copy to left.
Pro tip: Right alignment is a spice: use it for captions and prices, rarely for paragraphs.

Align Elements techniques that look professional
Four field-tested techniques, each shown on real photography. Steal them all.
Document the decisions.Note why the palette, type, and layout were chosen — future-you inherits the reasoning. Make it part of your Align Elements routine.
White space is a material.Treat empty space like ink — spend it deliberately, not as leftover. Try it on your next Align Elements project and compare the result.
Preview on the real device.A design judged on desktop and consumed on phones needs a phone check before shipping. Keep this in mind every time you open Align Elements.
Sleep on the almost-done.Fresh eyes catch what tired eyes forgive — review once more in the morning. Align Elements rewards this discipline more than most tools do.
Avoid the traps
Three mistakes to avoid with Align Elements
✕
One design for every placement
A square post stretched into a story looks broken. Fix: resize deliberately for each destination.
✕
Decorating before messaging
Effects applied before the words are final get redone. Fix: lock the copy first, style second.
✕
Everything emphasized
Bold, color, size, and underline on the same words cancel each other out. Fix: pick one emphasis per element.
End to end
A complete Align Elements workflow
Five moves, start to shipped. This is how the work actually flows.
1
Start in the editor
Open a blank canvas or a template — Align Elements works on anything with pixels. The tool never asks you to start over.
2
Do the core move
Run Align Elements the way the walkthrough above shows. Get the big decision right before touching details.
3
Refine with a second tool
Pair it with All tools — tools compose, and two simple moves beat one complicated one.
4
Check it on a phone
Most designs are consumed on phones. Preview small, fix what breaks, then continue.
5
Export and ship
Export in the format your destination wants, keep the master design, and move on to the next one.
