Designs rarely stay at one size: the Instagram post becomes a story, the slide becomes a thumbnail. Resize a Design changes any design's canvas to another preset — or exact custom dimensions — and reflows everything on it proportionally. Text scales, images scale, shapes scale; nothing is cropped or silently cut off.

The reflow keeps relative positions: an element centered on a square canvas stays centered on a wide one. Font sizes scale with the smaller of the two dimensions so headlines stay readable rather than overflowing.

Resizing edits the design in place and bumps its version number. If you want to keep the original size too, duplicate the design first, then resize the copy.

How it works

  1. Choose the design to resize.
  2. Pick a target preset — Instagram story, YouTube thumbnail, A4, and more — or choose Custom and enter width and height.
  3. Click Resize design.
  4. The result card shows the before and after sizes; the preview re-renders at the new dimensions.

Tips

  • Going from square to vertical (or wide to square) changes the composition — check the preview and nudge elements afterward.
  • Font sizes scale with the smaller dimension, so text never overflows the new canvas.
  • Custom sizes accept 16 to 12000 pixels per side, same as the design creator.

What it costs

Free on this site — and it can't be metered. Resize a Design uses no AI and runs entirely in your browser: no usage counters, nothing sent to our servers to bill. When credit metering arrives in the app, local operations like this one will never consume AI credits — only server-side AI generations will.

Frequently asked questions

Does resizing crop my content?

No. Every element keeps its relative position and is scaled proportionally to the new canvas. Nothing is cropped or hidden.

Can I undo a resize?

Yes. This page has an Undo button that restores the canvas size and element layout from before the resize (up to the last 5 resizes). For extra safety, you can still duplicate the design before resizing.

What presets are available?

The same nineteen as the creator: Instagram post, portrait, and story, YouTube thumbnail and channel banner, Facebook post and cover, X/Twitter post and header, LinkedIn post, Pinterest pin, presentation slide, email header, business card, A5 flyer, A4, A3 poster, US Letter, and 4K wallpaper — plus custom dimensions.

The full walkthrough

How Resize a Design works, step by step

Resize any photoaicompany design to another preset or custom size. Content reflows proportionally — nothing is cropped.

1

Design

The Design picker chooses which canvas receives the work. Keep one design per purpose — mixing campaigns in one file breeds confusion. Name designs by outcome (“Launch-Post-v3”), not by date; future-you searches by intent.

Pro tip: Star the designs you’ll revisit weekly.

2

Target size

The Size control sets the visual volume. Bigger is not better — bigger is louder, and loud only works when everything else whispers. Start from the preset (48px suits most headlines) and nudge in 8px steps until the hierarchy reads at arm’s length.

Pro tip: On phones, add 20% to any size that looked right on desktop.

Width (px)

Dimensions decide where this design is allowed to live. A square post, a story, a thumbnail — each has its own grammar. Set dimensions before styling: reflowing a finished design is surgery, starting at the right size is hygiene.

Pro tip: Lock aspect ratio when scaling photos; free-scale only graphics.

Avoid the traps

Three mistakes to avoid with Resize a Design

✕

Five fonts in one design

Every extra typeface dilutes the message. Fix: one family, up to three weights — restraint reads as confidence.

✕

Everything emphasized

Bold, color, size, and underline on the same words cancel each other out. Fix: pick one emphasis per element.

✕

One design for every placement

A square post stretched into a story looks broken. Fix: resize deliberately for each destination.

End to end

A complete Resize a Design workflow

Five moves, start to shipped. This is how the work actually flows.

  1. 1

    Start in the editor

Open a blank canvas or a template — Resize a Design works on anything with pixels. The tool never asks you to start over.

  2. 2

    Do the core move

Run Resize a Design the way the walkthrough above shows. Get the big decision right before touching details.

  3. 3

    Refine with a second tool

Pair it with All tools — tools compose, and two simple moves beat one complicated one.

  4. 4

    Check it on a phone

Most designs are consumed on phones. Preview small, fix what breaks, then continue.

  5. 5

    Export and ship

Export in the format your destination wants, keep the master design, and move on to the next one.
